Executive Coaching

There are times when an executive needs to be provided with fresh insight and understanding on how to improve their effectiveness. An external coach can work with the individual to examine their approach and style, identify how to maximise on current strengths and work on their development needs. Personality questionnaires can be used alongside action planning techniques to focus the individual and help them understand the behaviours that aren’t working and establish alternative, more effective, techniques.

The CIPD defines coaching as ‘developing a person’s skills and knowledge so that their job performance improves, hopefully leading to the achievement of organisational objectives. It targets high performance and improvement at work, although it may also have an impact on an individual’s private life. It usually lasts for a short period and focuses on specific skills and goals.’

Our coaches

We work within the code of practice of the British Psychological Society to ensure that you are provided with a high quality professional service. Our coaches are all qualified, and hold Professional Indemnity Insurance. Our approach to coaching involves the use of Cognitive Behavioural Coaching techniques. This approach is associated with longer-term changes in behaviour. It focuses on understanding the thoughts that precede actions to develop solutions that will make an immediate difference to performance. Our standard coaching package typically runs in the following format:

Coaching Session 1 - Exploration

The first session will be spent analysing where the individual is at the present and where they want to be. This will involve an exploration of their goals for the future and, where applicable, a detailed discussion of the findings of the personality profiling. They will begin production of a personal development plan and identify some immediate actions they can take.

Coaching Session 2 - Direction

The second session will be spent exploring in more depth how to address the development needs identified. Short, medium and long term goals will be set to allow the individual to be clear about the progress they are making. The potential barriers to these goals will be explored and solutions to overcoming them identified.

Coaching Session 3 - Evaluation

The third session will be to evaluate initial progress on the immediate actions and to discuss any changes that have taken place. The session will focus on providing the individual with the skills to evaluate progress and review their actions on an ongoing basis for themselves.

Please contact us if you are interested in implementing a coaching programme within your organisation.
