A leading telecoms company needed to recruit a VP who could instigate change and turn around the business. Ramsey Hall, our parent company, was approached to resource for the role through executive search and advertising, but it was felt additional assessment was critical to identifying whether the candidates had the leadership credentials needed to succeed in the role.
Our Consultant designed a cost effective assessment solution which was carried out online, which included an OPQ32 Leadership report from SHL, online verbal, numerical and inductive reasoning tests and a Scenarios Managerial simulation exercise.
From the results the Consultant was able to prepare an overall report which confirmed the suitability of four candidates, but found shortcomings in the leadership credentials of others. The aptitude tests provided further evidence of their potential suitability or limitations for the role.
The Result
The client was able to meet only the candidates who had strong leadership abilities leaving out the transactional managers who would not be best in a role which demanded high levels of leadership ability and change management skills.
